Alternative Burns Night with Spearhead Whisky & Katie Ailes

What wad ye wish for mair, man? What his share may be o’ care, man? Join us for an alternative Burns Night with Spearhead Whisky and American poet Katie Ailes!

Over the course of an hour an a half, we’ll celebrate all things Burns, whisky and poetry with a modern, non-traditional twist. Sip on three beautiful whisky cocktails created by Summerhall Drinks Lab in collaboration with Katie and Spearhead, sample the whisky neat and learn about their story, and of course, share in a toast to the work of Scotland’s Bard.

Katie Ailes is a wonderful researcher, artist, and performer, who moved from the US to the UK in 2014. An active spoken word artist, Katie placed second in the 2015 Scottish National Poetry Slam and has performed across the U.K., including at the StAnza and Wickerman festivals, The Edinburgh International Book Festival, Rally & Broad, Flint & Pitch, and St. Mungo’s Mirrorball. Her poem “Outwith” was chosen as one of the Scottish Poetry Library’s Best of the Best Scottish Poems in 2019.
