Around the World in 60 Rums – Haiti
September 9 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Each month we’ll explore a different rum producing country, sampling five rums from as many distilleries and/or indie bottlers as we can to get as broad a representation from each country as possible. We’ll include as many different styles as possible to highlight different production methods, age statements, cask types, price points, and (dare we say it) terriors to really get a feel for each national style.
This month we’ll feature Haiti! Clairin is their national spirit, and you’ll find upwards of 500 tiny distilleries creating their own unique take on this wild and funky distillate. We’ll try some unaged and aged Clairin, as well as some aged Haitian rum from two of the islands distilleries – including one aged in casks previously holding rum the legendary Trinidadian distillery Caroni. We’ll delve into Haiti’s fascinating and troubling history and find out what makes Haitian spirits so unique!
Keep an eye on our Instagram for updates on what bottles we’ll feature.
